SYNOPSIS: FRONTAL SYSTEM OVER EXTREME NORTHERN LUZON, WEAK EASTELIES OVER THE REST

ANALYSIS AND FORECAST

  1. Most of the country expected to be generally fair with possible isolated rainshower and/or thunderstorms
  2. Up to 20kt(37km/hr) from ENE-E over Extreme northern Luzon, becoming 5kt(9km/hr) Changeable over the rest of the country. Coastal waters will be MODERATE over Northern Luzon and sea waters will be safe to all type of seacraft.
  3. 24hrs rainfall forecast: (APRIL 23)
    1. METRO MANILA: 15mm
    2. LUZON: 40mm over EXTREME NORTHERN LUZON and MOUNTANEOUS AREAS
    3. VISAYAS: 5-25mm over most part
    4. MINDANAO: 10-70mm over most part
  4. 72hrs rainfall forecast (April 23-25):
    1. METRO MANILA: 20mm
    2. LUZON: 10-90mm over EXTREME NORTHERN LUZON and Mountaneous areas
    3. VISAYAS: 5-40mm over most part
    4. MINDANAO: 10-150mm scattered
  5. Overall, Isolated thunderstorms is expected over most part of the country.

FORECAST MODELS/TROPICAL CYCLONE UPDATE

As of 1200Z,
1. Tropical disturbance 93W slowlyy consolidating as environmental factors continues to provide ample support for possible tropical cyclogenesis.
2. Currently under the steering influence of SW quadrant of STR over NE. As the Ridge retreat to the East, poleward channel over North become more well establish, might start to affect its current direction and speed.
3. Hot SST, high OHC, weak VWS, and improving poleward outflow and good upper level divergence are over the area, aiding its possible further intensification within the next 24-48hrs.
4. majority of forecast models shows a possible tropical cyclogenesis but differ in intensity as majority indicates a more poleward track scenario.
5. Overall, 93W invest might become a next tropical cyclone within the next 48-60hrs if current environmental factors (which is good as of this time) continues within the said period.
